Las Palmeras Surf Camp COVID-19 Update
To our wonderful clients:
According to the guidelines of the federal and state governments of Mexico, Las Palmeras Surf Camp is still unable to provide services to our clients.
As much as we love taking care of our friends when they come visit us here in Salina Cruz, the local beaches, most notably Playa Brazil and Playa Chivo remain closed to both locals and tourists alike. This is due to the rules established by the local government. Our state of Oaxaca has a “Red Light”, meaning we are in a state of emergency due to the pandemic of COVID-19.
Las Palmeras Surf Camp has always taken pride in being a responsible, ethical and well respected business here in Salina Cruz. For this reason we are following the guidelines laid down by the local authorities. Our goal has always been to protect the well-being of each of our clients and to maintain a good relationship with the authorities and the local community of Playa Brasil and Salina Cruz.
If you know that someone came to Salina Cruz to surf, they are doing it against the guidelines established by our local government. There are some guides who are trying to operate without permission. That is their choice. Our opinion is that its not worth it to put our clients at risk with the local police.
We have heard from the tourism department here in Salina Cruz that it is likely that they will let us open up and begin to operate at the end of this month. But, that being said nothing is definitive or certain. As soon as we know we will let you all know.
The Mexican Government has only opened certain sectors of our country to tourism, such as Huatulco, Cabo San Lucas and Cancun, but the economy of Salina Cruz is not based on tourism, so our business is not seen as essential.
We are ready and prepared when the day comes to open up our doors here at Playa Brasil, and we cannot wait. Please stay safe and healthy and we look forward to seeing you all soon.
If you have any questions that you felt were not answered here in this email feel free to reach out and we will do our best to resolve any questions or concerns.
